Some amazing anthemic, epic and uplifting trance from long-time trance faves Nitrous Oxide and Max Graham, happy trance with dark dark lyrics from the brilliant John O'Callaghan, perfect musical magic from BT and Rob Dickinson on "The Unbreakable", insane killer breaks that really make the blood flow and the body rock out from "The Freerange DJs", the tone poem and haunting tale of a emotional or actual drowning from "How to Destroy Angels", a great song with an epic socio-political and self-awareness message from Super8 & Tab, an original remix of Hybrid UK's amazing "Break My Soul" about a soul that cannot be broken, and a piano that touches the heart in the Jasper Forks chosen track. There is not a bad song in the lot. From the first notes to the last kick drum kick- it's all damn good music! 2010 was a year for great releases and amazing tracks.

This set covers my fave genres of trance and breaks as an artist and highlights only fourteen of the best tracks released in 2010. There were countless other tracks that were things are beauty and kicked ass but these are the brightest stars fallen in my crate that I spun this year, and "The Unbreakable" won me my wife and co-composer. I love you, Pixie.

Next year, we move forward and ever upwards and onwards, to the second star to the right and straight on to the morning!

In addition to the FREE parking (60 spots) directly surrounding The Loft Warehouse, there is also FREE parking directly across the street at The PNC Bank (which is closed down) that holds a few hundred vehicles. There is a security guard posted outside of the Motel 6 next door that keeps an eye on The Loft Warehouse parking.

Since October is one of the busiest months of the year, it made sense to split our normal offering into an early installment, & this special addition to cover the later weeks & Halloween…

If you missed it, Capitol Punishment provided an absolutely awesome night for the scene. Held in the elegance of Ultra Bar, it drew a truly magnificent crowd who played, partied, & danced all night long. Indeed, an incredible line-up of top DJ's offered a high level of energy to keep the dance floors buzzing, while top performers, go go's, models, & an array of luscious fashion provided just the right blend of entertainment & intrigue to balance out the evening.

We'd like to thank everyone who made it out, & EVERYONE who worked so hard to make it a great night. Indeed, I'd like to personally thank model Nicotine for putting her heart & soul into creating such a fabulous event. Planning has already begun for 2010, so we'll look forward to seeing you next year!

Closing out the Summer Season...

It seems that the scene has witnessed a true resurgence as of late…

Indeed, this new found revival appears to carry a very real sense of possibility & a feeling of anticipation for what the future may hold. Like the phoenix rising from a period that was caught in relative obscurity, there seems to be a new level of stature that's beginning to quench the thirst of many & usher in a new era.

Local events such as Capitol Punishment (scheduled for October) have recently secured some of the most lavish downtown clubs available & promise to set a new tone for extravagance in the scene. The recently hosted SMB XIII saw a true return to form as it hosted a fantastic evening with a truly impressive turnout & a great time had by all.

Such long standing venues as Midnight are rising from the basement to seek better venues more suited to a new era, & the promoters who brought you such grand club nights as Alchemy have again stepped into the fray to host Tronik - an awesome event with some of the area's best DJs hosted in the beautiful Town Danceboutique. Even such smaller venues as Dunkleheit offer a great chance for monthly diversion with the feel of a more close-knit community balanced by a buzzing dance floor that carries forth all night long.

In Baltimore the story is much the same. Vogothic Sundays has come into its own in just a short few months & currently offers one of the scene's best nights anywhere. Right in line is Elektroschok, consistently hosting a great night with a high energy crowd. To the north, Drac's Ball & Nocturne also host impressive affairs with an aura of lasting mystique.

Even the more explicit & underground venues are seeing huge turnouts as month after month they host exciting events with a deeper sense of erotic flair. Individuals such as British Lucky Paul now hold full-on Mansion Parties for turnout approaching 200. The same can be said for the impressive efforts of DC TNG, DXS Rapture, as well as Baltimore TNG - each offering lavish gatherings in beautiful locations & a good time had by all.

Other aspects to the scene are doing the same. Groups such as Capital Cream & Virginia Couples Club have been hosting beautiful affairs for those inclined to a more explicit & adult orientation. Indeed, they stand as worthy of anything anywhere in the entire U.S. Of course, such brick & mortar clubs as The Crucible & Tabu continue to set the tone with a seemingly endless calendar of intriguing affairs. The old guard such as Black Rose & B.E.S.S. maintain a diligent mission of educating the overall scene. But even more, such organizations as Dark Odyssey serve as the grand daddy of the big show - hosting sometimes over 1,000 guests for incredible weekend affairs in prime locations in & around the area.

In fact, the area's gay scene has witnessed a similar resurgence. With new venues such as Code, & the ongoing efforts of long standing organizations such as Having Parties, Sigma & MaST, plus such nationally recognized conventions as DC Pride & MAL, an already thriving culture now has a strong foothold in the overall expanse of the DC & Mid-Atlantic underground.

And believe it or not, these are just a few of the great clubs, groups, & societies that populate the local scene. Indeed, there stands a vast array of some truly profound organizations which cross-pollinate our local scene. From as far north as Philadelphia to as far south as Richmond, all help to give us an unbelievable sense of diversity & opportunity to create a thriving underground culture for the entire region.

Without question, the DC Scene is again vibrant & on the rise. And resources such as The Metro Underground, Philly Goth Industrial, DC Domme's & a host of others are doing everything they can to help spread the word so it stays that way. We hope you let others know about our efforts, & we'll hope to see you out & about.

In that spirit, there are a few featured events for the coming weeks as we begin to close out the summer season…

Sat 22^nd - DC Invades NY: A Special celebration at Stimulate in New York.

- Hook & Crook Party: hosted by the Virginia Couples Club.

24^th-30^th - DC Restaurant Week: a favorite promotion for local Washingtonians.

28^th-30^th - Torture Garden Toronto: That's right, London's premier fetish club is coming to Toronto for a weekend of unparalleled decadence & delight.

Thu 27^th - TRONIK: the promoters of Alchemy have again stepped on to the stage to bring you DC's newest & most promising Alternative Dance Night. Hosted in the beautiful surroundings of TOWN, Tronik promises to provide a return to form for the alternative club scene.

And that same night, before heading over Dark Odyssey offers a great Meet & Greet Happy Hour at Dupont Italian Kitchen. Not your flavor? Across town, Having Parties hosts a special All Male CBT Party in the downtown area.

Sat 29th - Opening weekend for the Maryland Renaissance Festival.
- Elektroschock closes out the summer w/ one of Baltimore's best Nights.
- Lucky Paul presents "Pulp Friction" - hosted at 'The Castle'.
- Club Femme is hosted by Mistress Fawn in Glen Burnie.

And coming in September…

Wed 2nd - Apoptygma Berzerk Plays Live at 9:30 Club.
- Nocturne hosts one of Philly's best Goth nights at Club Shampoo.

- Wicked Wednesdays offers a night of Goth, Alt, & BDSM in Philly.
- Sigma holds open play at its on-site dungeon in DC.

Fri 4th - Labor Day Weekend hosts Montreal Fetish Weekend, a true highlight for the national calendar. Also, DragonCon, the nation's largest fantasy convention is hosted in Atlanta.

Locally - Dunkelheit is held at Asefu (1920 9th St. NW DC): $5 cover.
            - Liberation Dance Party offers an eclectic mix of music at DC9.
           - Black Rose holds their Dungeon 101 Newbie Night at The Crucible.
           - Hanover TNG hosts its bi-monthly happy hour at at Damons.
         - Sugar hosts First Fridays in Hampden, Baltimore.
             - Pleasure Garden Club hosts its Couples & Singles Party in Philly.
           - GLOSS presents Ladies Dance Night at Apex followed by the DCKings.

Sept 5th - DC TNG hosts a "Kink Playground & Schoolgirl Celebration" at Judy's.

- Master/slave Conference is presented by MAsT DC.
- Code DC: the area's newest addition to the all male fetish scene.

- Drac's Ball w/ Project Pitchfork Live is hosted at Shampoo in Philade.

Sun 6th - VolGothic Sunday: Hosted in the expansive & elegant Angel's Rock Bar in Baltimore's Power Plant Live (to which, fear not for the usual weekend crowds, as it's Sunday they have the whole complex to themselves), Volgothic Sundays provides one of the area's best venues for the alternative club circuit. Indeed, with top DJ's, incredible surroundings, & a great crowd that's been building with each passing week, they've already come into their own as a player in the scene. Doors open at 9pm. Cover is $5.

Tue 8th - Project Pitchfork live at Fallout - Richmond's best underground club.

Also, Registration is open for Dark Odyssey's 'Summer Camp' (Sept.16-21).

And mark your calendar! Oct 11th brings Capitol Punishment - DC's Ultimate Fetish Ball & Alternative Dance Night. RETROGRAMME is a Washington DC area electronic music act whose 2008 debut album cultivated a underground buzz in the area with its beautiful atmospherics and considerably wide-range of electronic progressions from industrial rock to ambient soundscapes. Rob Early, the principal synthesist and programmer, and Nikk Allen, the primary songwriter, have a musicianship similar to that of New Order, Underworld, and classic live electronic acts. This is not another laptop act but a band blending tight programming with live instruments spanning genres from industrial to aggressive pop.

End's "Summer Tour 09" began the last part of May and will last through the end of the Summer season (August) and will be returning to some cities from the previous tour as well as some new cities in the U.S., covering a more extensive tour schedule than ever before. This tour also consists of a couple of dates at End's new club residencies: HAZMAT at the G & G Nightclub in Charlotte, North Carolina and a new night, BRAVE NEW WORLD at Club Catalyst in Knoxville, Tennessee.

"Summer Tour 09" will feature new & as-yet unreleased material from a variety of independent artists & producers End continues to spotlight, including KOMOR KOMMANDO, a project of which End is also a member of with producer Sebastian Komor.

Often as seasonal heat hits a high note & people hit the road for one last beach break, August usually ushers in the dog days of summer & a bit of a lull in the annual calendar. But plan your weekends well, for there's a great deal happening in the coming month & if you'll still be in town then you won't want to miss out…

Fri 31st - Wasteland hosts a continued tradition of Goth & Darkwave at Jimmy Valentines. (1103 Bladensburg Rd. NE). Across town, Bound hosts "Arabian Nights" w/ belly dancing at Asefu (1920 9th St). But first stop in just up the street for DC9's Liberation Dance Party offering an eclectic mix of music at DC9. ($6 cover).

Sat 1st - Electroshok cuts through the summer heat with one of Baltimore's best Goth Nights. But earlier in the day, Mayo Beach is host to the Chesapeake Pride Festival from 12noon - 6PM.

Sun 2nd - VolGothic Sundays: hosted in the expansive & elegant Angel's Rock Bar at Baltimore's Power Plant Live (fear not, it's Sunday so they have the whole complex to themselves), Volgothic Sunday's offers one of the area's best venues for the regional scene. Indeed, with top DJ's, incredible surroundings, & a great crowd that's been building with each passing week, they're definitely a new player on the rise. August features Rivethead Military Theme Night. Doors at 9pm - cover is now $5.

Tue 4th - Washington Psychotronic Film Society: offers outdoor screenings of offbeat cinema at The Warehouse. Also, DC TNG holds its Meet & Greet Happy Hour at Lounge 201 (201 Mass Ave. NE DC) from 6pm-10ish. And in roughly the same neighborhood, Black Rose holds BDSM classes at The Hyatt Regency (400 N.J. Ave).

Fri 7^th - Dunkelheit presents End the DJ, w/ DJ Panic. A great night, an intimate crowd, & a good way to kick off the weekend. And stop in just up the street as DC9 hosts Liberation Dance Party (every Friday). Doors open at 9pm. Meanwhile, Sugar (Baltimore's Premier Boutique), hosts First Fridays in Hampden.

But hey, it's summer, so if you ARE planning a getaway then why not take advantage of two great events back to back in a cooler climate?

28th-30th - Torture Garden Toronto: That's right boys & girls, London's premier fetish club is coming to Toronto for a weekend of unparalleled decadence & delight. The following weekend over Labor Day then hosts Montreal Fetish Weekend - one of the true highlights for the international alternative calendar. Meanwhile, down in Atlanta DragonCon hosts hosts the nation's largest fantasy convention.

A Few Notes of Special Interest:

Exposure will no longer be held as a monthly event. However, Deep-6 Productions will still be hosting stand alone events for live performances as they come available. Stay tuned for future dates currently in the works.

TRONIK - the promoters of Alchemy have again stepped onto the stage to bring you Tronik. Filling a void left in the wake of Exposure, Tronik intends to offer a return to form as one of DC's best Goth / Industrial Club nights. Held on the Final Thursday of every month at TOWN.

Midnight - DC's longest running Saturday night goth club is no longer at The Meeting Place. However, as a venue they have NOT closed! Scott & crew are currently searching for a new & better location. So check back, we'll update information as soon as word is received on their new home.

Registration is now open for Dark Odyssey's 'Summer Camp' (Sept. 16^th-21^st).
